Upon The Sands
Upon the sands, beside the sea,
Three happy children played,
Who, tho' the sun shone fiercely down,
Enjoyed a pleasant shade.
And there, with many a joyous game,
They passed the Summer clay;
And not a bit the worse, at night,
For all the sun, were they!
With pail and shovel, each in turn,
They dug the shining sand;
Or, up and down the breezy shore,
They trotted, hand in hand.
A mighty hat, with feather long,
Adorned each pretty maid;
And that's the way, tho' bright the sun,
They played beneath the shade! |
